Scott King of the UGA Vinson Institute of Government recently was awarded the Public Service and Outreach Employee Spotlight Award.

King is a scientific computing professional specialist for the Institute of Government’s State Services and Decision Support Division.

King created the visualizations and analytics for the Georgia Degrees Pay website recently launched by the University System of Georgia. The site provides current and prospective college students with information about degree attainment, student success, costs and affordability at the 26 public colleges and universities of the USG. The site’s tools help students determine how much a degree from a USG institution can help their career prosperity and growth. Georgia Degrees Pay has drawn high marks from the media for its design and content, thanks in large part to King’s work.

King, who joined the Institute of Government in 2019, was nominated by co-worker James Byars.

“Scott was indispensable in producing the visualizations and analytics powering the Georgia Degrees Pay website,” said PSO Vice President Jennifer Frum. “He put a tremendous amount of energy and time into working with clients to design and redesign critical elements during an extremely tight project timeline. He was truly an unsung hero on this project.”

King received a gift basket of treats and a framed certificate recognizing the award.
