Good morning, hello! I'm here with your fresh copy of the Douglasville Daily. Keep reading to find out all the most important things happening in town, including updates on:

  • The City of Douglasville's budget presentation award

  • Upcoming library events for all ages

  • A free gift for students from Douglas County Schools

But first, today's weather:

Sunshine, but cool. High: 52 Low: 31.

Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:

  1. The City of Douglasville has received a budget presentation award for its 2023 budget from the Government Finance Officers Association. To be considered for the award, a city government must follow the national guidelines for budget presentations. Heather Campbell, financial analyst for the city, has also received a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation. (Press Release Desk )

  2. Maria Hampton, the Douglasville city manager, has been selected to participate in a National Forum for Black Public Administrators. The event will be held at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia and brings together 20 local government managers. Together, the attendees will "learn key strategies and collaborate on effectively addressing key challenges." (Press Release Desk )

  3. As part of the Douglasville Police Department's ongoing efforts to build connections within the community, Sergeant Dean assisted with a Crimes in Progress Class at the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy. Dean acted in scenarios for new recruits, who are scheduled to graduate today. The academy often brings in instructors from different agencies for training, presentations, and demonstrations. (Douglasville Police Department via Facebook)

  4. For the holiday season, communities within Douglas County Schools are again hosting their annual Operation Christmas. Children enrolled in the district or younger siblings of a student enrolled in the district can receive a gift through the program. In order to qualify for the free gift, students must receive free or reduced-price lunch or other services from the Health Department or Educational System. 5. Having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card! The Douglas County branches of the West Georgia Regional Library System have plenty of events for the whole family to enjoy. Head over to Douglas County Library for Tai-Chi for Seniors on Nov. 22, or enjoy Legos at the Library there on Nov. 28. Visit the library website to view everything happening at the Dog River, Douglas County, and Lithia Springs branches. (West Georgia Regional Library System)
