Two Ringgold City Council members, Mayor Pro Tem Kelly Bomar and Councilwoman Rhonda Swaney, have earned certificates from the Harold F. Holtz Training Institute, a cooperative effort of the Georgia Municipal Association and the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
The bill would create a new cold case commission within the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, track unsolved homicides and provide for timely death certificates even in unsolved cases. It would also establish a case tracking system under the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia and a website to allow the public to follow the work of the commission and cold case statistics.
"It says a lot when you get a group like together to do what's right for our children," Mayor Lester Miller told nearly two dozen community leaders gathered to discuss how to improve literacy across the county. "I know this is going to be successful b/c this isn't a one and done year for us."
