Eric McRae, associate director for Information Technology Outreach Services at the Institute of Government, continues to promote and educate the public and providers on Georgia’s broadband mapping project. Last month, McRae participated in the Georgia Technology Authority’s virtual 2021 Technology Summit. The two-day Summit provided in-depth insights and practical tools in cybersecurity, digital disruption and more. McRae co-presented Good Data for Good Decisions on Broadband, discussing the Georgia Broadband Deployment Initiative and barriers to broadband deployment in the state of Georgia. He was joined by Deana Perry, executive director of the Georgia Broadband Office. McRae also joined Perry and Bill Price, IT strategist with Georgia Technology Authority, for several virtual regional workshops offered across Georgia to discuss the Georgia Broadband Grant program. The workshops considered technical assistance available for project development, tools and resources to identify unserved areas and future funding opportunities.
