Institute trains more than 1,000 government officials at annual conference

More than 1,000 local government leaders from across Georgia recently attended Municipal Institute training. More than 30 classes were offered by the Institute of Government in partnership with the Georgia Municipal Association at the association’s annual convention in Savannah. The Georgia Municipal Training Institute, operated through a partnership between the Georgia Municipal Association and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, provides a nationally recognized series of training opportunities for elected city officials. During the GMA convention, the Institute offered 33 classes for 1,323 total participants. Additionally, the Institute recognized leaders who had reached certain levels of distinction in training. Certificates were awarded to 146 recipients, with recognitions including the Certificate of Recognition, Certificate of Achievement, Certificate of Excellence, Certificate of Distinction, and Certificate of Dedication.
