Language of Accounting

Participants will earn 12.5 CPE, 1.2 CEU, 12 Contact Hours

Attendance Policy: Our classroom training requires attendance during all parts of the instructional program. Instructors are required to take attendance and cannot approve student absences during class time. Please carefully consider your schedule when selecting class dates.

Field of Study:  Finance

Language of Accounting includes an overview of fundamental governmental accounting concepts as well as statutory budget policy used for the preparation of the Budgetary Compliance Report. In addition, purchase orders, grant accounting and payroll concepts are reviewed.

 

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • discuss the State’s financial management cycle

  • recite common accounting and budgetary terminology

  • review State reports to determine financial/economic condition and results of operations

  • discuss general requirements for federal grants

  • explain budgetary compliance

  • recall calculations for employer benefits

Who Should Attend? This course is for state government accounting and financial reporting professionals and others responsible for oversight and administration of a state government’s finances.
