Purchasing Basics in Georgia State Government

This course provides an overview of the State of Georgia purchasing process. Discussion will focus on the Georgia Procurement Manual, the Seven Stages of Procurement and the four purchasing methodologies.


Upon successful completion of this course, the participant should be able to:

  • detail the Basics of Public Procurement

  • define “ethics”

  • find and use two critical purchasing reference: the Georgia Procurement Manual and NIGP tools

  • describe Procurement Systems

  • list and provide an explanation of the Seven Stages of Procurement

  • list exemptions to State of Georgia purchasing regulations

  • define and list the Order of Precedence

Who Should Attend? This course is for state government accounting and financial reporting professionals and others responsible for oversight and administration of a state government’s finances.
