Brian Simmons joined the Institute of Government in 2013 and works in the Survey Research and Evaluation Unit as an evaluation specialist with a particular focus on social service projects. He works closely with clients and colleagues to develop and implement evaluation and assessment projects.

Before coming to the Institute of Government, Brian worked for the University of Utah’s Assessment and Referral Services providing mental health and substance abuse assessments. As a clinical social worker, he has experience working with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and family counseling. His clinical background and skillset are valuable assets in primary data collection with program consumers during individual interviews and focus groups. He is adept with both qualitative and quantitative methodology. His doctoral dissertation project in UGA’s School of Social Work is a social network analysis of advocacy activities on Twitter.

The chapel has been restored in a way that allows for its use by a wide variety of university and community groups for plays, concerts, lectures, weddings, meetings, and other special events. The Spalding Theater, which seats 240, and the Conference/Green Room, which seats 45, are rented to the public.
