We offer economic development professionals, development authority and downtown development authority board members, chambers of commerce, and government officials across Georgia an opportunity to participate in training courses that focus on subjects critical to economic development.

Economic Development Training:

Development Authorities

Having financial resources in place to market communities and incentives to close deals is an integral part of effective economic development efforts. Through Development Authority Training, board members and elected officials gain insights into the roles and responsibilities of boards and their contributions to advancing local economic development.

Georgia Certified Economic Developer Program

The Georgia Certified Economic Developer (GCED) program, created in partnership with the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA), offers economic development professionals Georgia-specific training on practical topics that can be immediately applied within your community to achieve economic success.

ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy Economic Development Track

The Institute of Government, in partnership with the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), offers courses through the Lifelong Learning Academy for county commissioners. These educational courses develop and enhance leadership and governing skills. They also develop their foundational knowledge in key topics of county governance while providing the opportunity for sustained development in a variety of specialized subjects.

GMA Economic Development Classes

We provide training programs in partnership with the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) for municipal elected officials through the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute. Advanced course work is available for credit through the Municipal Training Institute by participation in the Georgia Economic Development Academy.

Downtown Development Authorities

A downtown strategic vision identifies development and redevelopment goals for a city's downtown district and serves as a roadmap for revitalization efforts. Downtown Development Authority (DDA) training provides local leaders with the skills they need to ensure a healthy, vibrant downtown.
