      - Every spring semester, over 50 junior and senior students from Georgia's public and private universities and colleges intern with the Georgia General Assembly. These students gain first-hand experience in the lawmaking process through the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP). The GLIP was created in the 1970s under the leadership of then Lt. Governor Zell Miller and is a paid internship opportunity coordinated by the Georgia General Assembly.

Technical College System of Georgia Launches Senior Leadership Academy

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) recently launched its Senior Leadership Academy, a professional development program designed to promote career advancement within TCSG and its 22 colleges across Georgia. The first cohort of 25 participants met at TCSG's system office for a two-day session led by Dr. Alvetta Thomas.

The UGA Institute of Government welcomed three new communities into the Planning Rural Opportunities for Prosperity and Economic Leadership (PROPEL) program. Core team members from Baldwin, Ben Hill and Burke counties gathered in Milledgeville recently to learn more about developing strategies for community and economic development. The program is expanding thanks to funding from the USDA’s Rural Placemaking Innovation Challenge (RPIC).
