In addition to his duties leading the Energy and Electric Mobility Engagement unit,
Asher Dozier is now serving as Acting Director of Economic Development for UGA.
Asher specializes in helping communities, local governments, and state agencies navigate
the emergence of interconnected energy and transportation ecosystems. He develops
and delivers training programs, guidebooks, and technical assistance resources on
economic development and infrastructure planning, and convenes collaborations across
sectors to support Georgia’s growing economy. Prior to joining the Institute of Government,
he served in local government management and leadership roles, with more than 18 years
of experience in public safety, local government administration, and community and
economic development. He was on the recruiting teams that brought some of Georgia’s
largest economic development projects to the state. Asher is a statewide leader who
has been recognized by prestigious programs, including Leadership Georgia (Class of
2023), Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) GeorgiaForward Young Gamechangers (2022),
and the International City/County Management Association’s (ICMA) Emerging Leaders
Development Program (2021).
