OUR FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT PROGRAMS
Primary Governmental Accounting Series
This series gives a better understanding of how to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to transactions and events that occur in a government setting and is applicable to local and state government.
State Financial Management Certification
The Budget and Financial Management Certification Program offers an overview of the state's budget and fiscal management cycle and is ideal for participants working in state government.
Local Government Certification Online
Start courses at any time, and progress at your own pace. Find a course that’s right for you, and build a foundational understanding of accounting, financial management and human resources in a governmental environment.
Local Government Level I Certification
Local governments require sound financial management practices to operate efficiently and effectively. This certification's courses cover topics that are pertinent to finance practitioners at all levels of a local government.
Library Financial Management Certification
Libraries are typically formed as special purpose governments focused on providing access to information for citizens. As such, the approach to financial management requires a different perspective than most local governments.
Local Government Level II Certification
Level II certification requires completion of four core courses, 12 elective course hours and a financial management project within a three-year time frame. Level I certification is a prerequisite.
Continuing Education
These courses provide a more detailed look into financial management, expand professional skill sets and can count toward the continuing education hours required by each certification program.
Signature Offerings
Public Finance Leadership Academy (PFLA)
Offered in partnership between the Institute of Government and Georgia Government Finance Officers Association, the PFLA equips new and emerging public sector financial management leaders with the knowledge they need to successfully manage the fiscal affairs and activities of a local government.
