The Georgia Department of Natural Resource’s Coastal Resources Division, in partnership with the UGA Institute of Government and with engagement from Marine Extension-Georgia Sea Grant, launched the first-ever Coastal Resilience Leadership Academy, a two-day training program to equip local elected officials with the knowledge, tools, and network to build a stronger, more resilient Georgia coast. The 16 program participants included city and county elected officials from 10 of the 11 counties in Georgia’s coastal region. Speakers included faculty from the Institute of Government and Marine Extension-Georgia Sea Grant as well as state and local government, emergency management and the banking industry.
