The University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government recently published a
guidebook for local governments as they prepare for electric vehicle technology and
growth. The guide is part of the Plug into Georgia Initiative, and it provides strategies
and best practices for local governments to plan, acquire, and install public EV chargers.
Created with support from Southern Company, the guide includes a checklist for success
and outlines key considerations such as strategic planning, site selection, infrastructure,
and community engagement. The new guide and other Plug Into Georgia resources are
available online.
