The city of Cornelia has secured over $6 million to realize a downtown amphitheater and park concept first envisioned by the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government.

Building on a 2022 Downtown Renaissance Fellowship, the Institute developed site plans and renderings for the amphitheater, greenspace, trails, and streetscaping.

Cornelia secured a $1 million Appalachian Regional Commission grant, $1 million in local matching funds, and a $4.155 million bond to fully fund the Kinetic Amphitheater at Donald Anderson Park including a large flexible greenspace, event area, and walking trails.

Work is already underway, with an anticipated 2027 opening.
