Performance Management
Performance Management
Performance measurement is a useful tool for tracking work processes and outcomes. UGA Institute of Government faculty experts work with local officials to develop customized quantitative measures and data collection systems. These systems address current operational issues or contribute to long-range planning. Performance measurement assistance is available to local officials who need constructive tools to help keep government accountable.
Strategic Planning
Every government organization needs a plan to guide its use of resources including employee time and use of funds. We help governments develop strategic plans and identify the implementation steps necessary to achieve their goals.
Planning Retreats
Planning retreats and customized facilitations offer a relaxed, informal atmosphere away from distractions to discuss issues and set goals and priorities. We offer planning retreats for cities and counties of all sizes.
Criminal Justice and Behavioral Health
Individuals with a mental illness and/or substance use disorder make up an increasing share of jail and prison populations. We work with communities to understand how these individuals come into contact with the criminal justice system, where opportunities for diversion exist, and how collaborative efforts may reduce future involvement.
Organizational Reviews
We work with city and county managers on evaluating individual departments or entire local governments to assess operations and identify opportunities to improve performance. We develop a practical, comprehensive understanding of each organization and offer pragmatic recommendations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Past partners include both large city departments and entire rural county governments.
