      - Every spring semester, over 50 junior and senior students from Georgia's public and private universities and colleges intern with the Georgia General Assembly. These students gain first-hand experience in the lawmaking process through the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP). The GLIP was created in the 1970s under the leadership of then Lt. Governor Zell Miller and is a paid internship opportunity coordinated by the Georgia General Assembly.

Dr. Steve Wrigley Announces Plan to Retire as Chancellor of the University System of Georgia

University System of Georgia (USG) Chancellor Steve Wrigley announced plans today to retire July 1, 2021, after 36 years in public service. He has served as the 13th chancellor of the university system since 2017, overseeing 26 public colleges and universities with a $9.8 billion annual budget, 48,000 faculty and staff, and more than 341,000 students.
