UGA's Certified Public Manager Program celebrates 125 graduates

The UGA Institute of Government recently honored 125 public service professionals for completing UGA's Certified Public Manager (CPM) program. A ceremony celebrating the graduates was the final event in a two-day long conference that brought together current CPM students and alumni for professional development, leadership training and peer networking.

Institute recognizes Public Finance Leadership Academy graduates

Seventeen participants recently were recognized for completing the six-month Public Finance Leadership Academy (PFLA). Offered in partnership between the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government and Georgia Government Finance Officers Association, PFLA equips new and emerging public sector financial management leaders with the knowledge they need to successfully manage the fiscal affairs and activities of a local government.

Commerce Street in downtown Hawkinsville is more lively and welcoming thanks to collaborations with UGA faculty and students. Historic buildings, including City Hall, are being renovated for the first time in decades. The community adopted the tagline “Come Home to Hawkinsville” in 2019 after participating in the Vinson Institute of Government’s community branding services.

UGA’s PROPEL program to help guide Pulaski’s economic development strategy

Pulaski County is focusing on a long-term economic development strategic plan to ensure opportunity for future generations through PROPEL (Planning Rural Opportunities for Prosperity and Economic Leadership), a unique program of UGA’s Vinson Institute of Government.
