Vinson Institute Creates Workforce Planning Guide to Help Communities Tackle Challenges

Experts at the University of Georgia's Vinson Institute of Government have partnered with Georgia Power to provide communities across the state with a comprehensive and accessible resource to address the growth opportunities provided by new industries. In fiscal year 2022, Georgia's economy gained 51,138 jobs and $21.2 billion in investment, according to state data.

Local CVB reps learn more about tourism fundamentals

Liberty County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) Chief Executive Officer Leah Poole, Liberty County CVB Creative and Content Coordinator Emma Faircloth and City of Flemington Council member Hasit Patel completed Destination Leadership -- Fundamentals of Tourism, a course designed by the University of Georgia, in Madison. This course was led by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.

Commerce Street in downtown Hawkinsville is more lively and welcoming thanks to collaborations with UGA faculty and students. Historic buildings, including City Hall, are being renovated for the first time in decades. The community adopted the tagline “Come Home to Hawkinsville” in 2019 after participating in the Vinson Institute of Government’s community branding services.
