Dr. Dionne Rosser-Mims, Vice Chancellor of Troy University’s Phenix City Campus, has been honored for outstanding scholarship by The Women and Leadership Member Community of the International Leadership Association.
Dr. Rosser-Mims received the organization’s Outstanding Scholarship for Established Scholar award, which recognizes published work by a seasoned scholar that has advanced the understanding of women in leadership in significant ways. Recipients typically will have been involved in scholarship for at least five years.
The International Leadership Association (ILA) is the largest global community dedicated to leadership theory and practice, bringing together professionals from every sector, discipline and profession across the globe to produce rigorous research, cultivate a deeper understanding of the world and generate new insights into how to exercise effective leadership.
Dr. Rosser-Mims was recognized for the body of her research particularly on the topic of women and leadership.
“I am honored to be recognized for the scholarship I have produced on women and leadership from a global perspective, as well on leadership development in general,” she said. “I am deeply passionate about developing the leadership potential in those who do not see themselves as leaders. My 10-plus years and continued engagement in ILA and the Women and Leadership Affinity group has allowed me to expose those same individuals to a world of possibilities and how our individual leadership talents are not locally bound but can indeed have an impact on the world.”
Dr. Rosser-Mims has been an elected member of the Executive Committee of the Women in Leadership group since 2016, and is past chair of the International Outreach Committee (2016-2019), past program chair of the International Leadership Association: Women in Leadership Conference (2013-2015), Co-conference chair of the International Leadership Association: Women in Leadership Conference (2015-2017), Co-chair of the International Leadership Association Conference Theme Track (2016), and a conference proposal reviewer for the International Leadership Association’s Annual Conference.
Prior to becoming the Vice Chancellor in Phenix City in 2020, Dr. Rosser-Mims had served several leadership roles for the University, including Dean of the College of Education, Associate Dean of the College of Education, Associate Director of Academics for the University’s Southeast Region, District Director for TROY sites in Georgia and as a site director. She joined the TROY faculty as an adjunct professor in 2005 and then as a full-time faculty member in 2007.
Prior to joining Troy University, Dr. Rosser-Mims served as Leadership Development Associate for the Fanning Institute for Leadership at the University of Georgia and research coordinator at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia. In addition, she served as chief executive officer of Team One Associates, which provides training and facilitation services for community-based and for-profit organizations in the areas of team-building, group dynamics, leadership assessments, conflict management, communication, board development, strategic planning and experiential learning.
Rosser-Mims received Troy University’s Wallace D. Malone, Jr. Distinguished Faculty Award in 2013 and TROY’s Global Campus World Class Leader Award in 2010. She holds a doctorate in adult education and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Georgia, and bachelor’s degrees in mathematics, psychology and sociology from Piedmont University.
