Stephen Condrey appointed to chair the Federal Salary Council

Metro area human resources executive Stephen Condrey has been appointed by President Joe Biden to chair the Federal Salary Council.

The council submits recommendations for pay differentials for federal employees to the Secretary of Labor, Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management.

Condrey, a Montevallo resident and University of Montevallo graduate, is the president of human resources consulting firm Condrey and Associates Inc.

He has consulted with more than 800 organizations around the world on personnel issues. He was also appointed chairman of the Federal Salary Council by President Barack Obama in 2010. He holds the IPMA-SCP designation from the International Public Management Association for Human Resources. He was elected as a fellow to the National Academy of Public Administration in 2012 and was president of the American Society for Public Administration from 2013-2014.

Condrey has edited various publications on public personnel administration, human resource management and civil service. He has been honored with the University of Georgia’s Walter Barnard Hill Award for Distinguished Achievement in Public Service and Outreach, was named a Hill fellow by the university and was a member of its Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
