1. Why are you running for office?
I am running for Tax Commissioner because it is an opportunity to continue the efficient operations of the tax office and serve our growing county. I believe my education and experience have prepared me well in continuing these efforts. Here in Cherokee County, we enjoy excellent schools, outstanding public safety, and beautiful parks, all which rely on the timely and efficient collection and disbursement of tax revenue. I have worked for Cherokee County for thirteen years, the last six as Finance Director for the Sheriff's Office.
I have been a prudent financial steward of our taxpayers' money, staying within budget while moving the Sheriff's Office forward with the increased resources demanded to maintain the safety and security of Cherokee County. Before coming to the Sheriff's Office, I spent seventeen years as a fiscally sound marketing professional. I have proficiency in budgeting and financial forecasting with demonstrated expertise in business planning and analysis, budget preparation, and profit and loss management. I am proud of my service to public safety at the Cherokee Sheriff's Office and it would be an honor to continue my public service as Tax Commissioner.
