Holding a passion for public service, Emily Woodmaster, the City of Baldwin’s chief administrative officer and city clerk, has just achieved recognition as a Certified Public Manager. Woodmaster was one of over 125 governmental leaders within the state to be recognized by the University of Georgia.

The program requires 300 hours of curriculum for government managers to further enhance skills through in-class and independent study.

“Being a part of this program, specifically the Gwinnett cohort, was immensely beneficial,” Woodmaster said. “It created a space for government leaders to learn about different leadership styles, self-awareness, collaboration and process improvement. Networking with government officials from all over the state cultivated the opportunity to partner with other agencies that, otherwise, may not have been possible.”

Woodmaster additionally spoke to her responsibilities and how the program has benefited her. “In my position, it is my responsibility to ensure the city's posterity, and in doing so, will make every effort to be the best leader for the citizens of Baldwin and its employees. I would recommend the CPM program to all of our government agency leaders, as it is our obligation to lead our local governments into the future well-informed, fiscally responsible and with the utmost care and respect for its people,” Woodmasted said.

Woodmaster has been serving Baldwin as city clerk since October 2018, and has been chief administrative officer since 2020.
